A Homeless Man

I know I do not have that many avid readers out there, but I was late on my post due to internet difficulties. Enjoy!

The hope of the world rested on a homeless man. The universal encounter one exhibits during a conversion experience with Jesus Christ rests solely on a man that did not have a home. What if Jesus had a home? What if He approached life between the four interior walls of a decorated house? Countless Christians do not even consider what is at stake in the various texts supporting that the Messiah was homeless.

When we walk past a homeless man in need of some money or food on the streets of Indianapolis, we shrug our shoulders and pretend that we did not see him crying for help. When followers of Christ walk past a child with a cup in his right hand clanging the coins loud enough so they can get attention from bystanders. Consequently, this issue has not been confronted. The tactics of ignoring a woman in a rusty wheel-chair who sings songs that no person can understand has the universal saying; "I Don’t Care About You." What kind of message are we baring when our faith walks the other way to people in need?

They murmur, "she must have pissed away her life with booze and drugs." Deep down in her soul, down where no one can see, there is an image that transcends all. A beautiful creation that has purpose and conventional value waiting to be unleashed by the power of God. Can Christians allow themselves to enter into his/her world? Unforeseen things can happen. One of the risks is running the possibility of being viewed by one’s friend with suspicion or distrust. Another is to find oneself asking questions, perhaps only inwardly, about what one’s own faith really means.

The radical partnership we have in God demands us to partake in their world. Millions of people die of starvation each week, but we are worried about what reality TV has to offer us or who is going to get kicked off American Idol next. The reality is there is a world dying; what are you going to do about it?

Fear

A Child Waits

Doubts and questions plague the soul when watching a family shed tears and disappointment to God in the haze of a young sibling’s battle against the dreaded enemy of leukemia. Seminary did not prepare a young minister for what waits on this path of darkness. TV evangelists do not even begin to embark on the quest to answer real spiritual questions that many possess. The smell of the waiting room permeates my spirit.

A feeble child is hanging on for her life, yet has the power to make minute problems disappear and many people smile. The hope of new marrow to free her from this disease so she can go home to watch Barney on her own television keeps her alive. Going into a waiting room that screams death, what do I have to bring to this war?

My biblical interpretation on baptism or speaking in tongues? Heck no! The transliteration of a Greek word to better understand what Paul meant when he was writing to Ephesus while in prison. Erroneous! As I sat in the solid wood chairs among people alike, I would have never imagined what kind of hell is out in this world that awaits graduation day. Children, who have done nothing wrong, are affected with diseases such as AIDS, cancer, and drug addictions due to the stronghold of sin. A book cannot tell someone what to say to a family who has lost hope. I find myself insignificant and worthless in dealing with these issues.

What do I have? I have a God, who like it or not, is more concerned about that beautiful child He created than I ever will be. He is passionately in love with her and thinks of her often. He thought of before she was born. This is where I rest. I am putting all of chips in! Why? Because it is all I have.

The Death of Christianity

It is indeed unfortunate that the religion, Christianity, has met its end. The assumption that this old aged faith is growing is misunderstood on the part of scholars and layperson alike. Today, as a result of recent research, we know that Christianity has been dying for years. It should be emphasized that the author of this blog realizes that this event is dramatic and prophetic, yet rejoices.

Why do I celebrate? History has proven that the few who take a religion to the streets will only walk away with frustration, anger, and shame, but for those who take Jesus Christ, a revolution. The world is composed of many who think primitive Christianity was built on eloquent speakers and leaders; however, the early Christian era speaks of people who took Jesus and His ethics to the dusty roads of Rome and withstood a government, a dominating religion, and even death.

The death of Christianity just might stir something beautiful and poetic across this nation. When something dies, many grieve over the lost. But when Christianity dies, radicals alike will beat their breasts and shout their war cry across the four corners of the earth. The movement of Jesus Christ is beginning to amalgamate with the agnostics, atheists, and sinners all over the world.

Do you hear the sound of people giving their hearts to Jesus Christ? The music is so loud that the deaf hears the change. They do not give it to a religion or creed, but to God. The echo tingles the ears of radicals. It fuels the fire of the saints with clipped wings. Delight in the Awaken that is beginning to take place. The death of Christianity will be the birth of a Revolution.
